We used cubes and boards to play a game! (Kaitlynn) The game was making numbers in different ways on our boards.
We learned about Groundhog’s Day! (Kate) If he sees his shadow, it will be 6 more weeks of Winter. (Asher)
We drew a character going inside a mitten and wrote the name of the animal that we drew in a sentence. (Emma)
We went to the computer lab today! (Xan)
We got to go outside to play! (Sarah Jane)

We learned how to write the letters Y and Z! (Lily) We  have now finished learning how to write all our letters capital and lowercase!
In writing workshop we worked on a how to book that we really like! (Trevor) We will work on revising this book for our upcoming writing celebration. We will invite the 5th grade class that came to our first celebration so they can see how our writing has grown!
We got to go outside! (Kendrick)
In Math we reviewed our number charts that we made yesterday! (Sarah Jane) We found out that all numbers can be made in lots of ways!
Today we finally got to go to library! (Sam) We also got to use the computers! (Kate) Please help your child keep library books safe!

Dear Families,
In Fundations we learned more about the letters Q R S and T! (Nathan)
In writing workshop we learned that we could add warnings in our books. (Xan) By writing a warning or suggestion in our How To stories, it gives readers information about something that could go wrong when following their steps!
In math we tried to find all the ways to make 10 with red and green apples! (Asher)
Today we all had fun in reading centers. (GeorgiaJane)
We went to art today and we got a new spot to sit on the carpet! (Devin) We earned 6 stars in art class for coming in quietly and working nicely. (James)

Dear Families,
In Fundations we matched our letters in abc order on our magnetic boards! (Derek)
Today we had indoor recess. (Evan)
In math we played a game called Up the Ladder, Down the Ladder! (Jake) It was a game that reinforced the idea that you can make a number in lots of different ways!
Mrs. Mielke came today and she said we won’t see her for a while. (Emma) Starting next week we will go to Media center and not have counseling class!
We had a fire drill! (Dayton)
We are going to have big centers. (Max)
Friday folders are going home today. Inside you will find 100th day information and homework! Also there is yearbook order forms, and other flyers from Mill Creek!

Dear Families,
In writing workshop we learned to use the word “you” when we are writing How to Books! (Avery) Students realized that using “I” doesn’t help readers connect to our stories.
Today we had a good time in lunch. (Asher)
We had inside recess and watched the Magic Schoolbus about gravity. (Stella)
In math we got to make our own version of the story The Sleepover. (Trevor) Students are taking their books home today to show you what we have been learning using arithmetic racks and the story The Sleepover.

They are setting up tables in the commons for Cocoa Night already! (Xan) I hope to see you anytime between 5:30-7:00 tonight!

We had a good time at lunch. (Trevor)
We had outside recess today! (Derek)
We used arithmetic racks to figure out how to make numbers in different ways. (James)
We played with dominos  and tried to make a design. (Kendrick) We had a problem because the dominoes were too small and light! We learned that sometimes our experiments don’t work and we may have to solve it in a different way.
Today we went to art and had a substitute. (Sam)

Tomorrow is Cocoa Night!  (Xan) Hope to see you!

Dear Families,
·         In writing workshop most of us got our How to books done for Cocoa Night! (Nathan) We hope you can make it on Thursday 5:30-7:00! You can come anytime during that window to visit our classroom.  The kids will share their How to books that they have been working on, read out of their book tubs to you and show you some projects we have been working on.
·         We learned how to make the number 8 in lots of ways. (Allison) Today we learned how to use arithmetic racks to make a number in lots of ways!
·         Today we finally got to have our hot lunches and not just a sack lunch! (Emma) Our plumbing was back to normal which made our day better!
·         We had indoor recess  because it was too cold! (Maxwell)
·         In music we sang a song called Teddy Bear! (Dayton)
·         Today was my birthday and I gave out chocolate chip granola bars! (Devin)

It was a great day back!

Today we had sack lunch. (Austin)
In math we talked about weight. (Jake) If something is heavy the scales goes down and if it is light the scale goes up.
Today we had inside recess. (Avery)
We went to the computer lab and played games! (GeorgiaJane) PLEASE practice numbers! Some of our kids still don’t know them!
Mrs. Mielke came to our class and talked about how we can be respectful. (Evan and Sarah Jane)

Dear Families,
We are going to have a mini writing celebration at Cocoa night! (Xan) I will send more information next week!
In fundations we wrote the letters G and H in capitals and lower case. (Evan)
We went outside for recess! (Lily)
We went to PE and played with the parachute! (GeorgiaJane)
Today our pipes at school were not working! (Austin) Unfortunately it did not smell great in some areas at school and at times the restrooms were not working! Hoping to have it fixed tomorrow!


FYI: Tomorrow I will place Scholastic book orders so there is still a little time J

In writing workshop we talked about labels. (Kendrick)  We learned that labels give our pictures more meaning and help our readers understand our writing better.
We got to go outside to play and it was snowing. (James)
In math we talked about putting things in order by the objects height! (Jake)
Today in art we made fireworks using oil pastels. (Dayton) We also watched a fireworks video! (Avery)

Mrs. Cardetti came to our class and talked to us about inventions! (Asher) We got to make a machine out of cups, paper plates, and pipe cleaners! (Trevor)
In Fundations we learned how to make the letters C and D! (Allison) We practiced writing both letters as capitals and lowercase.
For lunch today we had chicken or a sandwich to buy. (Emma)
We went to music and saw a video of people playing instruments. (Sarah Jane)

Dear Families,
Today was a great day!
·         We used letter cards on our Smartboard for Fundations. (Kaitlynn) We are making lots of 3 letter words with our letter cards to help us read cvc words! Earlier this week I sent our Fundations packet home. There are small letter cards on the last page that can be cut out and used to make words like we are doing in our class!
·         In math we looked to see if an object was the longest or shortest in a group. (Trevor)
·         We went outside today but it was icy and cold! (Max)
·         We went to the computer lab! (Asher) The kids are having  fun playing lots of different computer games! Please help your child learn their MCE numbers!
