November 13, 2013

Dear Families,
We are going to have an extra recess at the end of the day! (Michah) Today we are celebrating our first non-referral party for this trimester with the rest of the school. After today, our celebrations in Kindergarten will be at the end of each month! I will talk to you about this at our conferences!
In math we worked on putting numbers in order. (Asher) This was difficult for many of our kids. To practice this skill at home, mix up number cards and see if your child can put them back in the correct order. Pull out 4 numbers and see if they can put them back in order J
We went to writing workshop and worked on our red dot work! (Max)
We heard the story Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! (Derek) Our class is having fun reading these funny stories by Mo Willems.

Several of the kids have asked me about attending their after school activities like dance, sports, etc.  I would love to if my schedule permits but I need you all to let me know details. J  I don’t want to intrude or make you feel like you have to include me.  It is just fun to see the kids outside of school.

*I forgot to mention yesterday that the Book Fair is going on all this week in conjunction with conferences.  I took the kids by the book fair so they know about it and where it is but you must be with them in order to purchase books (in other words you can’t send money to school so that your kids can buy books).  Part of the money from the book fair goes to PTA.  In addition, you may purchase books to donate to our classroom.  Rather than filling out a wish list, I like for the kids to choose a book to donate to our classroom.  Obviously, book donations are optional.

November 11, 2013

Dear Families,
·         Since today has been a busy day (conference week normally is J) I am writing this email.

·         Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be cold.  We got outside if the temperature is above 20 degrees.  So, please be sure your child has appropriate coats, hats and gloves/mittens.  Remember we have the early lunch and recess block so we go outside often when the weather is still pretty chilly.

**REPORT CARDS:
I will send report cards in Blue Friday Folders TODAY since the secretary got report cards copied already. We are not supposed to send these until next Wednesday but I thought if you had them earlier you could take a look at them before coming to conferences.  We can address the report card and any questions you may have at our conference.   You can bring the report card to conferences if you like but don’t have to.  The second page of the report card does say to sign and return but that is not necessary. I look forward to seeing you next week at our conferences!
**HOMEWORK:
There is also Nutrition homework that is due next Tuesday! Information is in Friday folders!
NON-REFERRAL CELEBRATION:
I sent home a few weeks ago a letter about PBS celebrations we have at MCE when students are being respectful, responsible, and resourceful. Next Wednesday, November 13th, our school is having our first celebration—Game day! The Kindergartens will be having an extra recess instead of this game day.

I truly appreciate your support and reinforcement of appropriate behaviors at school! J
